This technical report investigates the optimization of medical application processing within emerging 6G networks, focusing on the challenges and methodologies associated with in-network computing. It addresses the stringent requirements of medical applications, such as telemedicine and smart operation rooms, which necessitate high performance and low latency. The report formulates an Integer Linear Program (ILP) to optimize the placement of Modular Application Functions (MAFs) across Processing Units (PUs) while considering migration costs. The aim is to maximize the number of applications that can be executed with optimal service quality and minimal costs. A heuristic approach is also proposed for quickly obtaining near-optimal solutions. The evaluation demonstrates that the proposed methods can increase the admission ratio of applications by up to 40% compared to existing approaches. The report highlights the significance of effective application placement in enhancing the performance of medical services in 6G environments.
