This technical report presents the concept and architecture of the Information Backbone of Robotized Construction (IBRC), which aims to integrate various aspects of construction processes, robotic capabilities, and execution feedback. The IBRC is designed to facilitate coordinated, large-scale robotized construction across multiple trades by providing a unifying framework for planning, simulating, and executing construction projects. The report details two main environments within the IBRC: an offline planning environment that refines product and process information starting from a Building Information Model (BIM) to a Fabrication Information Model (FIM) and a Robot Execution Model (REM), and an online execution environment that supports real-time operation. The architecture relies on middleware for communication and emphasizes the need for a coherent digital representation of construction activities, enabling effective coordination among heterogeneous robotic systems. The report outlines the principles and functionalities of the IBRC, addressing current limitations in construction robotics and proposing a comprehensive system-of-systems approach for future developments.
