This document is a systematic literature review (SLR) that investigates the existing body of knowledge in the field of Model-Driven Engineering (MDE) in support of Artificial Intelligence (AI), referred to as MDE4AI. The study aims to define the current state of the art and sharpen future research directions. A total of 703 candidate studies were collected from five major databases, resulting in 15 primary studies that were evaluated. The findings indicate that MDE principles and practices are leveraged to define domain-specific languages that address AI concerns, particularly in training and modeling AI algorithms. However, the study notes that MDE for AI is still in its early stages, with no widely used tools or methods. Current approaches tend to focus on specific stages of development rather than providing comprehensive support throughout the entire process. The document suggests several research directions to enhance the integration of MDE techniques in AI applications.
