This technical report discusses the challenges of planning reliable multi-domain, multi-technology networks while adhering to quality of service (QoS) requirements. It addresses the complexity introduced by the coexistence of heterogeneous technologies, particularly in ensuring dependable end-to-end (E2E) connectivity. The authors formulate a mixed integer linear programming (MILP) problem, termed M-TL-MILP, which aims to compute link-disjoint working and backup paths for network demands while selecting the appropriate technology for each path link under QoS constraints. The evaluation of M-TL-MILP is demonstrated through a use case in a heterogeneous medical network, where it shows improved performance in terms of accepted demands, throughput, and computational efficiency compared to a restricted exhaustive baseline. The report emphasizes the need for optimal resource utilization and presents M-TL-MILP as a promising tool for resilient planning in complex network infrastructures. The findings suggest that M-TL-MILP can effectively support operators in identifying network bottlenecks and enhancing service reliability.
