Trial of Hydrogen Fuel Cell Generators at Construction Site

This report details the successful trial conducted by Tokyu Construction Co., Ltd. and Teijin Limited, which evaluated hydrogen fuel cell generators as power sources at a construction site near Shibuya Station in Tokyo. The trial, which took place from late June to mid-July 2023, focused on assessing the reductions in noise and carbon dioxide emissions compared to conventional gasoline generators. Results indicated a significant noise reduction from approximately 80 decibels to 60 decibels and a decrease in CO2 emissions by about 6kg over ten hours. The generators, which include a fuel cell unit and a pressure vessel unit, were noted for their portability and ease of use at construction sites. The report also mentions the potential for these generators to be utilized in residential areas due to their quiet operation. Future plans include further testing in cold environments and marketing the technology to various industries, aligning with Japan's Green Growth Strategy for carbon neutrality by 2050.
