Impact of Teladoc Health Diabetes Management Program

This document is a study evaluating the Teladoc Health Diabetes Management program aimed at Medicare Advantage members living with Type 2 diabetes. The program incorporates various features such as a cellular-connected blood glucose meter, food and activity tracking, and 24/7 remote monitoring. The study highlights the challenges faced by individuals with chronic conditions, particularly in accessing healthcare, especially in rural areas or during public health emergencies. It presents findings that indicate a significant improvement in clinical outcomes and a reduction in medical costs for enrolled members compared to a control group. Over a 26-week period, the program resulted in a 14.6% decline in medical costs, a 28.8% increase in medication adherence, and a 19% increase in doctor visits. Additionally, 87% of participants reported a positive experience with the program, showcasing the effectiveness of virtual care in managing diabetes and closing gaps in care for Medicare beneficiaries.
