Virtual Neurology Care Implementation at Novant Health

This case study outlines Novant Health's partnership with Teladoc Health and Adjacent Health to implement a virtual neurology care solution. Faced with staffing challenges due to a shortage of neurology specialists, Novant Health sought to enhance their stroke care services. The collaboration aimed to alleviate staff burnout, streamline workflows, and improve patient access to neurology care. The implementation involved developing custom workflows tailored to Novant Health's three major markets in North Carolina. The partnership resulted in the employment of 15 dedicated virtual neurologists, ensuring continuous coverage and flexibility to meet patient demand. The introduction of virtual care led to a significant increase in consults and improved quality of care at external partner sites. Additionally, the use of Smart Notes, a documentation solution, facilitated better data tracking and standardized billing practices. Novant Health is committed to ongoing improvements in their care programs and expanding access to additional partner sites in the future.
