This case study discusses the implementation of wastewater monitoring solutions in the Vsetin microregion of the Czech Republic, focusing on the challenges and requirements for monitoring overflow channels at wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs). Technoaqua, a distributor for Teledyne ISCO Water, proposed a solution for accurate flow measurement and event-paced sampling. The study outlines the need for individual approaches due to varying site conditions, emphasizing the importance of high accuracy in flow measurements to prevent environmental contamination during overflow events. The recommended solution incorporated Teledyne ISCO’s Signature area velocity flow meters and 5800 refrigerated samplers, which were installed at six discharge points. The technology allows for flow measurements under various conditions while meeting specific environmental regulations. Moreover, the integration of flow meters with SCADA systems via Modbus communication facilitates real-time data reporting on wastewater quality and quantity. Customer feedback indicates satisfaction with the reliability and accuracy of the installed systems, confirming their effectiveness in monitoring and regulatory compliance.
