This technical report presents a least-squares Kirchhoff imaging method that utilizes a simplified Point Spread Function (PSF) formula for seismic data processing. The conventional approach to compute PSFs involves a two-step process of modeling followed by migration, which can be computationally intensive. The proposed method computes PSFs explicitly using a simplified formula, enhancing efficiency. The report details the process of reshaping the computed PSFs to align with the migrated image and describes the iterative inversion process using a preconditioned conjugate gradient solver. A field example from the Campos Basin offshore Brazil demonstrates the method's effectiveness, showing improvements in image resolution and clarity compared to traditional methods. The findings indicate that the simplified PSF formula allows for cost-effective computation applicable to various acquisition geometries, ultimately leading to enhanced seismic imaging outcomes.
