

MDIO v1 is an open-source format for seismic data storage, designed for AI training, data management, and visualization. Built on Zarr, Blosc, and TensorStore, it offers efficient access to large datasets, reducing costs and enhancing accessibility. This article presents case studies demonstrating MDIO's benefits in seismic workflows, including rapid SEG-Y ingestion and cloud-based I/O, while ensuring compatibility with Python's Xarray for seamless scientific workflows.
