This technical report presents a comprehensive analysis of the prospectivity of the Mauritanian margin, utilizing a mega-regional 3D dataset. The study outlines the significant exploration successes in the region, particularly the discoveries of the Greater Tortue-Ahmeyim, Sangomar, and BirAllah fields, which have established the area as a key hotspot for oil and gas exploration. The report details the geological setting, highlighting the influence of Triassic salt and Mesozoic carbonates on the structural traps and sedimentary processes. It describes the integration of over 80,000 km2 of 3D seismic data with existing datasets to enhance the understanding of clastic systems and their relationships with tectono-stratigraphic units. The findings indicate that the prospectivity is defined by distinct geographical domains, with specific plays linked to the Neogene, Mesozoic, and Triassic periods. The report concludes that understanding these relationships can improve confidence in future exploration efforts and assist in de-risking reservoir distribution and trap timing.
