This technical report discusses a scalable strategy for full-waveform inversion (FWI) model building utilizing sparse ocean-bottom node (OBN) acquisition and reimaging of legacy towed-streamer data. The objective is to enhance imaging in complex geological settings, particularly in salt-affected areas where velocity uncertainty poses significant interpretation risks. The paper outlines a lifecycle-oriented approach that begins with deploying sparse OBN to create an FWI-ready wavefield sampling, which is essential for developing robust Earth models. Following this, existing streamer data is reimaged to achieve immediate improvements in imaging quality. The report details the operational strategy in four stages: initial sparse OBN acquisition, FWI model building, reimaging of streamer datasets, and selective densification of OBN as assets mature. The case studies from the Gulf of America and Santos Basin illustrate the effectiveness of this hybrid acquisition approach in improving model accuracy and imaging resolution, thereby maximizing the value of both new and existing data.
