Personal Research Knowledge Graph for Scientists

This document is a position paper that proposes the concept of a Personal Research Knowledge Graph (PRKG) tailored for scientists. It addresses the challenges scientists face in managing vast amounts of research-related information, which can hinder productivity. The authors conducted interviews with scientists to identify the components and requirements for an effective PRKG. The paper outlines the necessity of a Personal Information Management (PIM) system to facilitate the collection, processing, and storage of relevant information while emphasizing security and privacy. The PRKG is defined as a structured knowledge graph that is owned and maintained by the researcher, allowing for personalized data management. The authors also discuss the role of a smart virtual agent that can interact with the PRKG, aiding scientists in accessing and updating their information. Future research directions regarding the maintenance of the PRKG and the protection of personal data are also suggested, highlighting the importance of this tool in enhancing scientific productivity.
