This technical report analyzes the impact of infrastructural modifications in station areas on the resilience of rail systems. It specifically examines two types of changes: the addition of new crossing tracks and the installation of new signals to facilitate bi-directional train movements. The study employs a mesoscopic methodology to assess the infrastructure's performance under various disruption scenarios, including switch failures and platform closures. Key performance indicators such as total delays, recovery times, and performance drops are utilized to evaluate resilience. The report outlines an optimization model aimed at revising train schedules to minimize delays and improve operational efficiency. Results from computational studies indicate that the newer infrastructure layout significantly enhances resilience metrics compared to previous designs, particularly during longer disruptions. The findings aim to assist infrastructure managers in making informed strategic decisions regarding local changes to improve rail operations during disruptions.
