Evaluation of Ford Foundation Gender Justice Strategy 2020-2024

This report presents the evaluation of the Ford Foundation's Gender, Racial, and Ethnic Justice International (GREJ-I) program for the period 2020-2024. The evaluation, conducted by Kore Global, aims to assess the effectiveness of the program in preventing gender-based violence (GBV) by supporting organizations led by women, girls, LGBTQI+, and gender-diverse individuals in the Global South. It outlines the program's Theory of Change, which emphasizes the importance of historically excluded voices in GBV prevention efforts. The evaluation employs a mixed-methods approach, including portfolio analysis and interviews with grantee partners and stakeholders, to assess progress across four key outcome areas: infrastructure and collaboration, norms and accountability, evidence-based policies, and resourcing. The findings highlight significant achievements in building a resilient GBV prevention ecosystem and the critical role of flexible funding in enhancing organizational capacity and collaboration among feminist organizations. The report concludes with strategic implications for future initiatives.
