This article is a report on the Navigating Change initiative, which involved 200 civic engagement and democracy organizations exploring new organizational structures and leadership transitions. The initiative focused on nurturing trust, bridging conflicts, and aligning management with values to promote equity and democracy. Participants emphasized the importance of evolving operations to center on sustainability and dignity, while navigating challenges related to identity and power dynamics within organizations. The report outlines how BIPOC leaders are innovating approaches to foster shared decision-making and equitable practices. It documents the experiences of 600 individuals in the initiative and the lessons learned regarding co-governance, conflict resolution, and the alignment of organizational practices with core values. The article concludes with a discussion of the collective stories and transformations aimed at creating organizations that reflect the equitable, democratic future the participants aspire to achieve.
