This case study details the implementation of Tintri VMstore solutions at the United States Department of Defense Cyber Range, which has been operational since October 2009. The Cyber Range serves as a simulation environment for training military personnel in network defense. The existing storage infrastructure faced challenges in scalability and efficiency, prompting the ManTech International team to seek a new solution. The selected Tintri VMstore T540 and T650 systems provided rapid provisioning capabilities, reducing the time to deploy virtual machines from weeks to minutes. The case study outlines the improvements in storage management, performance, and backup functionalities achieved through this transition. It highlights the significant reduction in physical footprint, cooling, and power consumption, as well as the ease of use that eliminated the need for specialized training. The results demonstrate the advantages of intelligent infrastructure in enhancing operational efficiency and supporting the dynamic needs of Cyber Range exercises.
