This case study outlines the challenges and solutions faced by Lee University in delivering an effective Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) experience. The university, located in Cleveland, Tennessee, encountered significant performance issues with its existing storage systems, which struggled to support the unique I/O characteristics of VDI. Users experienced excessive log-in times, exceeding seven minutes, which was deemed unacceptable. To address these challenges, Lee University partnered with WrightCore, who recommended the Tintri VMstore solution. The implementation of Tintri resulted in improved performance, reliability, and simplified management of VDI services. The university's IT team reported a significant increase in overall application performance and a reduction in management tasks, allowing them to focus on strategic initiatives. Additionally, the financial impact on backup and replication operations was notably positive. The case study highlights the university's commitment to leveraging technology to enhance educational experiences and operational efficiency.
