This report presents the findings of the Consumer Pulse Study conducted in Zambia for the second quarter of 2025, focusing on consumer behaviors and attitudes regarding household budgets, spending, and debt. The study reveals that while 34% of respondents experienced income growth recently, 49% reported financial conditions worse than expected, highlighting a complex financial landscape. Despite challenges, 79% expressed optimism about their financial situation in the coming year, particularly among Gen Z respondents. The report details how consumers are adapting to financial pressures by saving more and reducing discretionary spending. It also notes significant concerns regarding inflation, job stability, and access to credit, with 94% of participants deeming access to credit crucial for achieving financial goals. However, only 42% felt they had adequate access to such resources. The study underscores the need for improved financial education and accessible credit options, as many consumers reported being targeted by fraud, indicating a growing awareness of financial security issues.
