This document is a case study detailing the implementation of live TV streaming and digital signage on the Spirit of Tasmania ferries, operated by TT-Line. The objective was to enhance passenger communication and entertainment during the eleven-hour journey between mainland Australia and Tasmania. Following a $31 million refurbishment in 2015, the Chief Information Officer, Tim Harlow, sought a solution that would be easy to manage and require minimal IT support. The chosen platform, Tripleplay, provides both media streaming and digital signage capabilities, allowing passengers to access eight live TV channels via a browser-based portal without needing to download apps. The deployment of digital signage has improved the onboard experience by providing clear information and dynamic content, contributing to increased passenger satisfaction. The case study outlines the challenges faced, the solutions implemented, and the benefits observed, such as reduced waiting times and enhanced ambience through modern digital displays.
