Software Asset Management Implementation at Akbank

This case study details the implementation of USU Software Asset Management (SAM) at Akbank, one of Turkey's largest banks, which faced challenges in managing its extensive IT infrastructure comprising over 8,500 servers. The bank required a solution to effectively inventory and manage software licenses while ensuring compliance and preparing for audits. The USU SAM solution was selected for its scalability, flexibility, and user-friendly interface. After implementation, Akbank's IT team automated the collection of software inventory, significantly improving data quality and accuracy. The solution enabled the bank to generate budget control and compliance reports efficiently. Furthermore, the SAM tool facilitated the discovery of vendor licenses, addressing previous issues with software detection on Unix servers. The results included enhanced product lifecycle management and the ability to monitor license usage in real-time, which improved budget calculations and reduced compliance risks during audits.
