This case study details the implementation of a Software Asset Management (SAM) solution by Türk Telekom, a leading telecommunications operator in Turkey. Following a merger in 2016, the company faced challenges in managing its software licenses across its diverse IT landscape. To address these issues, Türk Telekom selected USU as its SAM tool provider, implementing their License Management and Discovery tools. The project involved cataloging over 1,600 software license records from approximately 140 vendors and optimizing software usage to prepare for audits from key vendors like Oracle and Microsoft. The integration of USU's SAM solution in 2020 led to significant improvements in efficiency, reducing the time required for audit requests from over 100 days to just 6 days. The automated processes enabled a comprehensive inventory of databases, resulting in a 93% optimization rate. The successful implementation garnered recognition, including the SAMS Europe Award in 2020 and the ITAM Review Excellence Award in 2022.
