This case study details the collaboration between Vālenz Health and a Southeast distribution wholesaler and retailer aimed at reducing employee healthcare expenses while maintaining care quality. The client sought to implement a shared accountability strategy to encourage over 6,000 plan members to select high-value medical care and prescription medications. Vālenz employed its Bluebook and Bluebook Rx solutions to enhance member education and engagement, utilizing tools for cost and quality transparency. The approach led to significant savings, totaling nearly $1.2 million over two years, with $784,447 in medical cost savings and $398,257 in pharmacy cost savings. The study outlines the effectiveness of the tailored communication strategy and incentive plan, which promoted healthcare consumerism among members. The results demonstrated a 2.8:1 return on investment, highlighting the impact of the implemented strategies on healthcare spending and member engagement.
