This case study details the implementation of Veeam Data Cloud for Microsoft 365 by Catholic Education Western Australia (CEWA), which serves over 90,000 users and manages more than 1 petabyte of data. CEWA recognized that the native backup capabilities of Microsoft 365 were insufficient for their regulatory compliance needs, prompting the need for a more robust solution. The deployment of Veeam's solution took only 40 minutes, significantly faster than anticipated. The case study outlines the challenges faced by CEWA, including the risk of data loss and the necessity for long-term data retention. It highlights the benefits of the Veeam solution, such as a 50% increase in data recovery speed and the ability to retain data for over 99 years. The collaboration with Veeam has allowed CEWA to enhance its data resilience and compliance posture while planning for future multi-cloud strategies. The case study emphasizes the importance of data protection in the education sector, particularly in light of increasing cyber threats.
