This case study details the City of Fort Worth's transition to an Integration Platform as a Service (iPaaS) to modernize its civic services. The city faced operational disruptions due to its on-premises architecture, which hindered its ability to efficiently serve residents, businesses, and developers. With 536 licensed users and an annual issuance of 19,500 building permits, the city recognized the need for a stable and efficient solution. By moving to Accela’s cloud environment in March 2023, the city eliminated these disruptions and positioned itself for continuous improvement in service delivery. The case study outlines the city’s focus on process improvement, emphasizing the reduction of waste and the leveraging of automation to enhance user experience. iPaaS is presented as a strategic solution that connects various departments and systems, facilitating data flow and harmonizing processes. This integration aims to streamline operations for staff and provide a more user-friendly experience for customers engaging with city services.
