This case study outlines the implementation of Veracode Risk Manager (VRM) by a North American financial company to address the overwhelming challenge of managing over 600,000 active Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVEs) from various security tools. The security team faced difficulties in unifying and prioritizing vulnerability data, which led to confusion and delays in remediation efforts. By adopting VRM, the company was able to consolidate data streams from tools such as Qualys, Prisma, and Defender into a single platform. This unification allowed for the organization of vulnerabilities into actionable groups, significantly reducing the number of actionable issues from 600,000 to 6,000. The case study details how integrating external threat intelligence and applying contextual factors enabled the team to focus on the most critical threats, streamline remediation processes, and enhance overall security operations.
