This case study details the engagement of a national automotive aftermarket retailer with Verde Solutions to address high energy costs associated with lighting in its distribution centers. The company, which operates over 2,650 distribution and retail centers across the US, identified energy expenditure as a critical area for cost reduction, particularly focusing on its 26 distribution centers with an annual lighting budget exceeding $1.3 million. The retailer sought a partner capable of conducting comprehensive energy studies and implementing efficient solutions within a tight timeline. Verde Solutions was selected to perform site surveys on all 26 centers within 30 days, aiming to convert existing fluorescent lighting to energy-efficient LEDs and install sensors and controls. The results indicated significant energy savings, with a gross lifecycle energy savings of $9,609,500 and a systemwide annual energy savings of $764,757. The project demonstrated a return on investment of 3.34 years, showcasing the effectiveness of the implemented energy solutions.
