This case study details Adobe's deployment of Versa SD-WAN architecture following its transition to cloud-based operations. The objective was to achieve four-nines availability for critical services while adhering to a reduced budget. Adobe's existing hub-and-spoke network architecture was inadequate for accessing public cloud resources, prompting a redesign led by Shane Jenkins and Eustolio Betancourt. The study outlines the phased approach taken by Adobe, starting with the integration of Versa-certified white box routers into the SD-WAN fabric. Challenges included logistics, software issues, and internal risk aversion, which required educational initiatives to gain support. The results of the deployment included increased bandwidth, enhanced visibility, improved user experience, and significant cost savings, with a reported 50% reduction in total cost of operations over five years across 37 global sites. The case study emphasizes the importance of thorough vendor evaluation and the benefits of SD-WAN technology in optimizing network performance.
