Digital Pre-Shipment Reporting Tool for Oyster Movements

This case study outlines the implementation of a digital pre-shipment reporting tool developed by the NSW Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD) in partnership with OneBlink. The objective of the tool is to enhance the monitoring of oyster shipments, which is crucial for biosecurity and compliance within the aquaculture industry. The previous systems were outdated and led to significant underreporting, creating economic risks and challenges in disease management. The new solution allows oyster farmers to submit reports digitally, improving data accuracy and compliance. Since its launch in July 2023, the tool has resulted in over 770 digital shipments, significantly increasing engagement compared to prior methods. The system integrates with existing DPIRD frameworks to ensure real-time compliance checks and streamlined reporting processes. This initiative marks a significant advancement in biosecurity measures and operational efficiency for the oyster production sector.
