This case study details the redevelopment of a food sampling app by the Department of Health (DoH) Victoria, aimed at enhancing food safety regulation across Victorian Councils. The previous app, developed as a native iOS application, faced limitations due to outdated technology and restricted usability, which hindered its adoption. The new app, built on OneBlink's Low-code Platform LcS, allows for rapid updates and is deployed as a Progressive Web App (PWA), enabling access on various devices without reliance on app stores. The app features complex forms, pre-filled fields, and offline capabilities, facilitating efficient data collection and compliance checks by food safety auditors. Since its launch, all 78 Victorian Councils have adopted the new app, resulting in more inspections and improved data quality for testing labs. The case study outlines the benefits of low-code development and the enhancements made to user experience and data collection processes.
