Advances in OBN Imaging for Pre-Salt Fields

This technical report discusses advancements in ocean bottom node (OBN) imaging technology applied to pre-salt oil fields in the Santos Basin, Brazil. It outlines the evolution of seismic processing techniques over five years, focusing on the Tupi field, which presents significant imaging challenges due to its complex geological structure. The report details the use of advanced methods such as elastic Time-Lag Full-Waveform Inversion (TLFWI) and reverse time migration (RTM) angle gathers, which enhance the accuracy of velocity models and improve fault definition. The study highlights the impact of these technologies on reservoir-based inversion of the Vp/Vs ratio, resulting in reduced uncertainties at the target level. The report also explains the data acquisition process, the improvements made in pre-processing, and the benefits of the new imaging techniques. Overall, the findings demonstrate that technological advancements in seismic imaging can significantly enhance the understanding of pre-salt reservoirs, facilitating more effective resource development.
