Referral to Treatment and Non-Referral Patient Audit

This document is a report detailing the Referral to Treatment (RTT) and Non-Referral to Treatment patient audit conducted at Croydon University Hospital in March 2023. The primary objective of the audit was to enhance care quality and reduce delivery costs by identifying patients on the RTT and Non-RTT lists who could safely receive care without follow-up appointments. The audit targeted a maximum of 1000 gynaecology and 1600 dermatology patients, utilizing the Making Care Appropriate for Patients (MCAP) clinical decision support tool to assess the appropriateness of their care pathways. The report outlines the review process, which involved MCAP-trained nurses analyzing patient records to determine the correct level of care. It presents findings on the number of patients reviewed, the percentage deemed Non-Qualified, and the reasons for their classification. Additionally, it discusses recommended levels of care for Non-Qualified patients and highlights key learnings from the audit process.
