This study is a technical report that examines the effectiveness of the Waterford Early Learning (WEL) program, a computer-assisted instruction (CAI) tool aimed at enhancing literacy skills among K-3 students. Conducted with a sample of 2,419 students from a Louisiana school district, the research assesses the long-term impacts of the WEL program on literacy development. The analysis indicates that students who engaged with WEL for two to three years significantly outperformed their peers who used the program for only one year or not at all, across various demographics including gender and ethnicity. The report details the methodology, including the use of Dynamic Indicators of Early Literacy Skills (DIBELS) for assessment, and outlines the structured usage of WEL in classrooms. The findings contribute to the existing literature on early educational interventions, emphasizing the importance of sustained literacy exposure and early intervention in achieving equitable educational outcomes. The study calls for further research to validate these findings and explore the longitudinal effects of such interventions.
