This application brief presents a study comparing the lifetime of MaxPeak Premier Columns and standard stainless-steel columns in high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) applications. The study involved 5,000 injections of formulated naproxen tablets analyzed using both column types, with system pressure and peak tailing monitored as critical performance indicators. The results indicated that neither column exhibited signs of fouling, as both maintained system pressure and peak shape within 5% of their initial values throughout the testing. The application brief outlines the importance of column longevity in reducing variability in analytical results and discusses the potential benefits of using inert hardware to minimize non-specific adsorption of analytes. The findings suggest that the MaxPeak Premier Column demonstrates a comparable lifetime to traditional stainless-steel columns when analyzing formulated samples, thereby supporting its use in various HPLC workflows. This study provides valuable insights into the performance and reliability of different column materials in analytical chemistry.
