This research report investigates the impacts of menopause on women in the workplace, based on an online survey of 905 women employed by large employers in the U.S. The findings indicate that many employees feel their employers do not provide adequate support for menopause-related issues. Symptoms associated with menopause create significant challenges that affect productivity and career progression. While half of the employers surveyed offer some resources, barriers to their use remain prevalent. Employees express a desire for more flexibility, trained healthcare providers, and coverage for hormone replacement therapy (HRT). The report also highlights that supportive workplace cultures and open conversations can positively influence employee morale and productivity. Additionally, many women report feeling uncomfortable discussing menopause-related needs due to fear of judgment, which further complicates the issue. Overall, the research underscores the importance of addressing menopause-related needs to improve workplace support for affected employees.
