This document is a case study detailing a company's innovative approach to vehicle acquisitions and upfitting in response to supply chain challenges. The company, operating in the building services industry with a fleet size of 6,400 vehicles, faced difficulties due to the near disappearance of original equipment manufacturer (OEM) pools and limited availability of dealer stock units. To address these issues, the company collaborated with Wheels to develop a 'Fast Track' program. This program involved creating an in-house pool management system that allowed for bulk vehicle orders at the start of the order cycle. As a result, the time from vehicle allotment to delivery was significantly reduced from 180 days to just 45 days. The case study outlines the substantial increase in factory orders and the streamlined process that enabled regional locations to quickly select and configure vehicles, ultimately replicating an 'Amazon-like experience' for field operations and achieving significant cost savings.
