This research article investigates the integration of Digital Twin (DT) applications within the context of water sustainability and Lean Construction (LC) principles. The study conducts a comprehensive literature review to identify various water systems where DT has been applied, including distribution networks, sewage systems, and wastewater treatment plants. It outlines the potential benefits of DT in enhancing operational efficiency and promoting water sustainability, particularly in the face of climate change and resource optimization challenges. The article also discusses the tools and technologies associated with DT applications, emphasizing their alignment with LC principles aimed at reducing waste and fostering collaboration. Despite the identified advantages, the study notes limitations such as data interoperability and computational complexities that hinder the effectiveness of DT applications. The findings suggest that while the integration of DT and LC principles can transform water resource management, further research is necessary to address existing challenges and evaluate long-term impacts. The article serves as a resource for scholars, practitioners, and policymakers interested in advancing sustainable water management practices.
