IT State of the Union Engagement Overview

This document is a case study detailing the engagement between Windval and a utility client to enhance the communication structure and processes related to the current state of IT. The primary objective was to develop a repeatable process and leadership-level communications framework that articulates the IT current state, portfolio views, and technology obsolescence risks. The engagement involved deep collaboration with the Office of the CIO and IT leadership to ensure alignment on goals and outcomes. Windval's structured approach included organizing the initiative into three workstreams, which facilitated effective management of progress and connection of key elements. The case study outlines how the new communication structures and consistent metrics were established to support the CIO and client leaders in their planning and budgeting efforts. The results included a standardized process for engaging executive leadership and a clearer understanding of technology obsolescence risks, ultimately enhancing the IT function's alignment with business objectives.
