Medication Management Automation and Analytics Implementation

This case study details a customer's implementation of automation and business analytics software aimed at improving patient-centric medication and supply management across healthcare facilities. The business challenge stemmed from the complexity of medication dispensing exacerbated by factors such as high hospital readmission rates linked to medication-related issues, excessive time spent by pharmacy staff on manual tasks, and disconnected workflows affecting medication availability. To address these challenges, the customer leveraged a Scala-based data processing engine on Databricks, enabling real-time processing of medication transactions and enhancing data with additional insights. The solution emphasized inventory intelligence, offering real-time dashboards with predictive insights and integrating enriched data across various platforms for quicker decision-making. As a result of these initiatives, the customer reported a reduction in dispensing errors, improved medication ordering speed, increased pharmacy storage capacity, and significant progress towards a zero-error pharmacy system.
