Impact Assessment of Renewable Energy Transition

This document is an impact assessment report focusing on Wipro's transition to renewable energy. The study evaluates the effects on greenhouse gas emissions, air pollution, water consumption, and land use. In FY24, Wipro procured approximately 89.8 million units of energy from vendors in Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, and the report compares the impacts of this renewable energy procurement against traditional coal-based electricity generation. A life cycle-based approach is utilized to assess the overall impact, considering various phases of electricity generation. The findings indicate minimal displacement of natural resources at procurement sites, with specific attention to wind and solar power installations. The report details significant savings in greenhouse gas emissions, air pollution, and water consumption, amounting to a total impact saving of USD 11 million in FY24. The assessment concludes that the environmental impact of Wipro's renewable energy procurement is classified as 'High Positive' under its Corporate Social Responsibility initiative.
