This report is a detailed examination of sustainability within the healthcare sector, specifically focusing on the Netherlands. It was produced as part of the Partnership for Health System Sustainability and Resilience (PHSSR) and aims to analyze the discourse surrounding sustainability topics among healthcare suppliers, providers, and insurers. The study utilized document analysis of 30 sustainability reports and interviews to explore the common language used in sustainability reporting. The findings are organized into five domains: Policy, Planet, People, Performance, and Path Forward, each addressing different aspects of sustainability. The report discusses various frameworks and regulations, the environmental impacts of healthcare, the connection between human health and sustainability, and the performance of organizations in achieving sustainability goals. It concludes with recommendations for improving collaboration and communication among stakeholders to enhance sustainability practices in the healthcare sector.
