This document is a case study detailing a transition study conducted by Worldwide Clinical Trials for a Phase I clinical trial involving patients with a progressive muscle weakness disorder. The study aimed to address the unique challenges associated with patient participation, including safety considerations and travel accommodations. The team utilized decentralized clinical trial elements, employing telehealth technologies for remote patient consent and pre-screening. A patient experience manager was appointed to support participants throughout the trial, ensuring their comfort and addressing individual needs. The outreach campaign implemented by the sponsor significantly exceeded expectations, resulting in twelve times the required number of participants for consideration. Following an extensive pre-screening process, the study successfully enrolled participants and generated the necessary data for progression into Phase II trials. The positive feedback from participants highlighted their feeling of being well-informed and supported during the study, with some maintaining contact with fellow participants post-trial.
