This case study outlines the collaboration between a sponsor and Worldwide, a global Contract Research Organization (CRO), to address challenges faced during a First-in-Human (FIH) study. The sponsor had contracted a large CRO for full-service support but encountered issues such as delays in startup, team turnover, and rigid contracting processes. With a critical milestone approaching, the sponsor sought Worldwide's assistance to expedite the study's progress. The study involved a Phase I/II Project Optimus design aimed at enrolling 192 patients across 30 sites in the U.S. and Europe. Worldwide's team was tasked with rescuing the FIH startup by accelerating site activation and stabilizing trial execution. The case study details the strategies implemented, including immediate resource allocation, parallel contracting processes, and rapid initiation activities, ultimately leading to the successful achievement of the sponsor's goals within a compressed timeline.
