This article is a research report that presents the findings from a survey conducted among economics students in Poland regarding the economic and social aspects of online education during the COVID-19 pandemic. The objective of the research was to verify several hypotheses related to distance learning, including the levels of student engagement, focus, and the impact on social relations. The study utilized various statistical methods such as parametric and non-parametric tests to analyze the data collected from 604 participants. The results indicate that students reported lower levels of engagement and focus in online classes compared to traditional in-person education. Additionally, while there were economic benefits such as saved time and costs, students also experienced negative effects on their health and social interactions. The article concludes with a discussion of the implications of these findings for future educational practices and the ongoing challenges posed by online learning environments.
