This research article examines the influence of demographic and economic factors on reverse annuity benefits for widows during the COVID-19 pandemic. It highlights the significant increase in mortality rates, particularly among the elderly population, and its effects on the financial and social status of widows. The study analyzes the relationship between higher mortality rates, property values, and interest rates, and how these elements impact annuity benefits. It utilizes data from the period 2018-2022, including the three-month WIBOR interest rate in Poland and real estate prices. The article also discusses the concept of reverse annuity contracts, which serve as a financial tool for older individuals, allowing them to convert property value into a lifelong monthly benefit. The findings indicate that the pandemic has exacerbated existing inequalities in health and social care, particularly affecting women, who are more likely to experience widowhood and financial burdens following the loss of a spouse.
