Work in IT for Women: The Realities of Ukraine

This article is a research study focused on gender equality in the field of information technology (IT) in Ukraine. It examines the working conditions of women in IT, discusses stereotypes that may deter women from pursuing careers in this sector, and identifies reasons for their lack of interest. The study highlights that while there are no formal prohibitions against women working in IT, various societal factors influence their career choices. It analyzes statistical data and survey results from the IT sector, noting the challenges of data collection during wartime in Ukraine. The article also addresses the gender ratio in education and employment, revealing that while the number of women studying technical fields is comparable to men, women often occupy less prominent positions in the workforce. The authors provide recommendations for overcoming gender inequality in IT, emphasizing the need for societal change regarding stereotypes and perceptions of women in technology.
