This case study details the modernization efforts of the YMCA of Greater Charlotte in response to challenges posed by outdated endpoint hardware. The organization implemented IGEL’s Secure Endpoint OS Platform to enhance security, streamline endpoint device management, and improve operational efficiency. The YMCA collaborated with XenTegra to procure 30 new IGEL OS licenses and 25 LG thin clients, expanding its existing deployment of over 150 IGEL OS-powered HP T430 endpoints. The deployment has facilitated a seamless check-in process for members and guests, leveraging Microsoft Azure Virtual Desktop and Salesforce’s CRM software. The read-only nature of IGEL OS has strengthened the organization’s cybersecurity posture by preventing unauthorized modifications. Additionally, the YMCA plans to extend the deployment of IGEL OS to its back-office operations to further enhance operational capabilities. Overall, these initiatives have positioned the YMCA for future growth and operational resilience while maintaining cost efficiency.
