This case study details the implementation of OSID-DE smoke detectors at an upscale department store chain located in Mexico City. The store, which has a rich history dating back to the 1850s, faced significant challenges due to a previous devastating fire and the limitations of their existing beam detection system. The original system led to frequent false alarms and installation difficulties, prompting the need for a more effective solution that would also maintain the store's aesthetic appeal. After evaluating various options, the store opted for the OSID-DE system, which offers advantages such as easy installation, reduced false alarms, and the ability to cover large areas with fewer units. The initial installation included 100 OSID-DE detectors, replacing approximately 150 traditional spot detectors. The flexibility of the OSID-DE system also allows for easy reconfiguration to accommodate changes in the store's floor design. The case study highlights the successful integration of advanced smoke detection technology in a retail environment.
