This case study details the implementation of the FAAST FLEX and VESDA Sensepoint XCL smoke and gas detection solution at the Chi Feng Power Station in China. The document outlines the challenges associated with smoke and gas detection in battery rooms, emphasizing the need for early smoke detection, management of nuisance alarms, and the importance of system design flexibility. The solution was designed to ensure effective detection and response to fire threats, particularly in environments where lead-acid batteries are charged and discharged. The installation involved a pipe network modeled in ASPIRE software, with specific configurations for smoke and gas detection. The outcomes of smoke and gas tests demonstrated that the system met regulatory requirements for smoke transport time and effectively detected low concentrations of flammable gases. The results indicated that the system could provide comprehensive protection for the battery room area, showcasing the successful integration of the detection technologies.
