This case study details the implementation of advanced water treatment technology at Schmiedewerke Gröditz GmbH, a forging works located in Saxony, Germany. The facility sought to enhance its cooling water disinfection process, which previously relied on costly and environmentally harmful biocides. The objective was to adopt a more efficient and sustainable disinfection method using electrolysis, which utilizes common salt to produce sodium hypochlorite on-site, thereby eliminating the need for chemical storage. The selected solution, the OSEC® NXT chlorine electrolysis system, was integrated with new measurement and control technology, including DEPOLOX® devices and membrane dosing pumps. The results demonstrated significant improvements in operational reliability, cost savings, and enhanced occupational safety by reducing hazardous substances. The project was completed smoothly and on schedule, meeting the performance and water quality requirements of the site, leading to a positive impact on working conditions and environmental compliance.
